Alyssa Mullins has been writing stories for as long as she can remember, though most of them stayed tucked away in notebooks and files never meant to see the light of day. Stake Me If I’m Wrong is the first one brave enough to demand its place in the world. She believes a good book should make you laugh at least once, break your heart just enough, and leave you wanting to read “just one more chapter” even at three in the morning.

Her writing routine usually involves a large cup of matcha, an open laptop, and music blasting. Sleep Token and Ethereal Treason have become the permanent soundtrack to her late-night writing sessions, a mix of haunting and powerful that keeps her characters alive in her head. More often than not, her fur babies are curled up at her feet, reminding her that sometimes the best stories come when you are surrounded by comfort.

When she is not writing, Alyssa spends time with her friends and family. She values family above all else. She is also doting on her daughter, who will be warned repeatedly to stay far away from this book until the day her mother gives her permission to read it. Life at home in Kentucky is full of chaos and love, and that balance often spills into her work.

Alyssa writes because stories have always been her way of making sense of the world. She believes that love can be both ridiculous and tender, that grief can sit beside humor, and that sometimes the best way to face the dark is to laugh right through it. She also hopes that anyone struggling will find a way to her stories and that something she has written gives them a reason to stay.

My charity of choice is the Children’s Advocacy Center in London, KY. I believe that every child that experiences sexual abuse deserves the tools for a shot at the best life possible. Part of my contract through Spark & Quill is that 10% of my profits can go to a charity of my choice. I couldn’t imagine a better organization to donate to. They saved my life. So, with every book sold, you’re singlehandedly helping a kiddo out that needs it.
